      <image:title>Exhibitions - A Catch, 2019</image:title>
<image:caption>As a solo installation in the Contemplation Gallery at The Suter Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū, A Catch consisted of nude stockings and worked together using traditional fish net knots to construct its own ‘flesh net’. The piece was stretched over the space that was slowly released over time. Simultaneously playing with materiality and social constructs of beauty, the nude, and constrains the body within a space. Nets are flexible, functional, efficient and broad-sweeping. They trawl through a body of water and envelop their prey. There is both strength and flexibility to them. You can be held or caught in one. Of course, a net made out of stockings remains flexible but its function and use is questionable. An echo of a body remains. A trapping of an object only a possibility. A Catch, 2019, Catalogue - In Conversation with Sarah McClintock and Katie Pascoe Image | Ishna Jacobs Model | Sam Loe</image:caption>

      <image:title>Exhibitions - Intention Lines, 2018 Toi Poneke</image:title>
<image:caption>Intention Lines is a collaborative work between the wearer, the viewer and the maker and that makes me think of the notion of human wear, as adornment in itself. This project started while I was sitting on a worn stone step installing an exhitonand thinking about how you can feel the human movement and wear through a building. I discovered this movement wear has a name, it is called a desire line. A desire line is made by human or animal footfall, where they have taken their own chosen path, through a space or landscape. I wondered if this notion of a desire line be applied to our skin? Could the wear and movement of our body reflect our intentions and choices, in the forms of our creases and wrinkles on our body? So it is here, that the wrinkle and the gaze project was born. With a particular focus on the female gaze, I invited a small group of 14 women to be part of the project. I took a close up profile shot of each of the women and before I took the photograph, I asked them to think of a heartfelt desire, so there was a direct choice and intention behind their gaze or their desire line. When I asked this direct question, it drew a number of different responses of focus, contemplation, laughter and joy. What I loved about this moment is that no one revealed what they had thought - it was a private moment. And all that I was left with, was an impression of what that thought made on their skin. From which these silver jewellery pieces where born. Jewellery of the body, for the body.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - HeartWood</image:title>
<image:caption>HeartWood is an urban forest sculpture that weaves together strands of art, wellbeing and sustainability. Designed with micro forest principals using the miyawaki method, it aims to create a soft contemplative space in our urban environment that looks towards fostering empathy, healing and hope. The aim is for HeartWood to be an inclusive place that is accessible to all. The project is born out of the uncertain times and the loss that people are experiencing in terms of health and loss of habitat. This project aims to bring people together through positive action that puts living art forms at the heart of urban wellbeing. DIG A HOLE, PLANT A TREE, GROW SOME HOPE. By organising these simple actions and providing an intentional symbolic framework for planting, we will create a sculpture in the form of a micro forest within the heart of our city. We recognise art is a powerful tool to express and process human emotions. HeartWood offers contemporary ritual with collective planting and accessibility for contemplation and transformation. This project is bought to you by Free Range Arts Collective and is successfully supported by Manatū Taonga Te Urungi Innovation Fund.</image:caption>

As a window project space, it offers local and emergent artists with a contemporary art practice to exhibit new and innovative work within an experimental environment. Currently, VIEWFINDER can be found at 259 Hardy Street, Nelson. Viewfinder has been running in Whakatū Nelson for the last 4 years and has shown over 28 artists from Aotearoa. Check it out here.
