Project 21, Exquisite Corpse, Series Three
Exquisite Corpse, Ashburton Art Gallery, 11 Aug to 8 Oct 2023
Based on the surrealist game the exquisite corpse, jewellers Kay van Dyk, Joel Fitzwell and Katie Pascoe construct a series of necklaces with a top, middle and bottom without knowing what each other has made. Together they are assembled to make a jeweller’s Exquisite Corpse.
Exquisite Corpse was exhibited as part of the inaugural Nelson Jewellery Week in March 2021, where 9 necklaces were shown at 18A Project Space, Nelson. They have since exhibited the following series at The Jewel and The Jeweller in New Plymouth, Molly Morpeth 2022 Whakatane, Viewfinder Window in Whakatū and NJW 2023.
The complete showing of the 21 corpses and all seven series will be hosted by the Ashburton Art Gallery from August 11 to October 8, 2023
